Baby-Group 1st Birthday Party

The Groovy Party Invite
-
The invite for the combined Birthday Party said between 11am-1pm, which meant Sophie could have a mid-morning sleep and therefore, would be nice and refreshed before heading along...wrong! Little Sophie didn't want a bar of sleeping this morning so we took her along grumpy and tired and fully expecting she would be trouble. Thankfully we were wrong and Sophie had a great time, she seemed to more energy than all the kids put together too!
-
There were loads of things for the little ones to do and Sophie kept herself well occupied by running around and climbing over everything. When we all sat down to have lunch, Sophie was the only child who couldn't sit still...so we ended up putting her back in the playground where she giggled, explored and fell over...lots.

Mummy and Sophie playing on the bouncy castle

Sophie loves chasing balls and baloons around

Funny watching her run around...then falling over

She loved the slide...there was train she sat in and you put at the top of the slide - then you let it go and watch it motoring down by itself!

Teaching her how to mow lawns nice and early ...good girl Sophie

mmm not sure about this thing though...

Wicked birthday cake to finish

-

So a cool morning at the birthday party - it was good to catch up with all the other parents and see the little ones again. The venue is great too and only cost each couple $5 hire fee...not bad!. We each had to buy a present and it ended up being a bit of a lucky dip...Sophie scored a Hi-Five DVD - and she loves the programme so did very well!

She's walking...look out!

Sophie is now walking non-stop...and almost given up on crawling all together! She looks much like her old man after a few too many when she walks though...very funny to watch.
There's a new video of her walking on the right hand side of the page under "Sophie's Video's New"
We're off to the combined 1st birthday party tomorrow, it's the 13 couples from the anti-natal class we attended over a year ago! - should be pretty good, we've hired out a play center place. Will get lots of photo's tomorrow to put up.
-
No more crawling for me!

A Day at the Zoo & Mummy Comes Home

Sophie had another HUGE sleep overnight and woke up just after 8am this morning, I even took the baby moniter to bed with me and cranked it full throtle just incase - I had a horrible thought that maybe yesterday she woke up early and I simply slept though it.
-
After breakfast, Sophie was showing me her new trick of fetching the ball out of her toys and walking over to me with a big grin on her face and handing to me....she's getting pretty clever.
After her mid-morning sleep we had lunch at Subway in Ponsonby, I packed her lots of fruit, sandwiches and baby-food - I manged to scoff my lunch down in seconds and then spend the next 40 minutes feeding her...bloody lucky I brought along lots of bibs and wipes...she does like to play with her food and cover herself with most it!
-
After lunch we finally headed off to the Zoo!
- Sophie excited seeing the Girraffes

She spotted her favourites...The Seagulls scavenging for food outside a cafe!

More excitement when she saw the Flamingos!

The BIG Lions were out today...she squeeled at them lots!

Quick snap under the water fountain

We even saw the Tiger that came out to greet us

I asked her afterwards if she enjoyed herself at the Zoo
-
We also a saw, a Hippo, Elephants, Monkeys, Rhino's, Alligators, Otters, Lots of Birds, Rabbits and a HUGE Orangutang...I lifed Sophie out of her stroller to put her up to the glass to get a better look at it...and then the Oranagutang came up close and stared at us...Sophie started pointing towards it and then shouted DADDY!!!..I knew I needed a shave but didn't think I looked that bad!...at least Sophie gave the entire crowd watching it a good laugh...
-
After her exhausting day, we headed home...I mentioned mummy was coming back today and she instantly started grinning.
-
Sophie ended up having a MONSTER sleep this arvo, poor Ingrid got back just moments after I put her to bed...so mummy had to wait an agonizing 2 hours before she could give her big cuddles....but it was worth it when she woke up.

Mummy and Sophie happy to see each other again

Home Alone: Day 2

Sophie slept in till 8am this morning (or maybe that was Dady didn't get out of bed till 8 this morning...) We had a big day planned though, we were going to go to the Zoo, visit some freinds, go to the park and head out for lunch. We only manged 2 of the above though, Lunch and the Park.
By the time we were ready to go visting friends, Sophie fell alspeep in the car and time simply ran out on us going to the zoo...always tomorrow though.
-

Up bright and early for breakfast...

Sophie looking confused..."Why are you eating a big tasty Subway Daddy and all I have is two stink vegimite sandwiches? "

Playtime at the park

Playing peek-a-boo with her shadow

All the excitement with her daddy knackered her out...

Sophie & Daddy alone all weekend!

Ingrid has gone away for a long overdue girl’s weekend with Katie from work. It'll be the first-time she has spent a single, let alone two full nights away from Sophie...and yip, Ingrid phoned us less than two hours into her weekend away...(not to check up of course, simply to tell us she had arrived safely...)

Soph’ and I have a big weekend planned, we're gonna head back to the Zoo tomorrow, feed some ducks at the park and then visit some friends who have just recently had a baby girl. Me and the little Soph-miester are in for a ripper weekend!
-

Sophie having a play just after mummy left this afternoon...she's not allowed to play with the heater...first mistake this weekend.

No vegetables on the menu tonight...I hope that's not KFC she's eating though??

Bit of educational reading...lucky you can't see the TV guide stuck to the back of the book aye!...Sophie pointing out what shows she's gonna watch while mummy's away!

Tickle time before bed

...and more tickle time

...even more!

Quick self portrait of the two of us (and txtra long cuddles afterwards), before Sophie heads off to bed

New tricks

Today is Mothers Day so we let mummy have a long sleep in this morning. We were going to make Ingrid breakfast in bed, but Sophie was being extra clingy and didn't give us a chance to do anything this morning, she didn't want a bar of sleeping either and ended up staying awake till well after lunch. Then she only managed a quick afternoon sleep before waking up very unhappy, we noticed a bit of nappy rash and a few more spots on her face and realised she must be teething again.
-

"Heeeey, how you doin'?"

We went out this afternoon to grab a coffee and have a play at the park. Sophie had oodles of fun on the swing and tried to eat all the bark in the playground. I also taught her a new trick today...you know when you say hi to someone and you give your head a slight nod upwards...well, Sophie is doing it now, but instead of a subtle nod, she bends her head right back and stares at the sky with a huge grin on her face…then almost falls over!...Ingrid and I were pissing our selves with laughter all day long.

Sophie is standing, and walking a few more steps every day now too. She loves her little baby walker we got for her birthday...check out the link to Sophie's Video's on the right hand side of the page...there’s a new video of her with her new toy.
ps. (If the video stops and starts and takes forever, don't worry, just let it run through by itself till the end - then hit play again...it should work from start to finish a lot better then...)

Saturday Shopping & Daycare Reports

We decided to head over to St Luke’s today, we're all getting a little bored of always going to the Glenfield Mall in the weekend and we needed a change of scenery. Sophie absolutely loves going to places where there are lots of people, she smiles at everybody that passes by or looks towards her. We picked up a baby-subway for Sophie while we were there and she quite happily fed herself for 30 minutes or so while mummy and daddy had a coffee in between picking her food off the floor that she drops!
-
Sophie is starting to attract a bit of attention when she's out in public, she thinks it's the ideal opportunity to talk and sing and make all sorts of weird and hilarious baby noises. She’s also trying to mimic all sorts of words and sounds she hears too...it’s very cute.
-

Grinning at everybody that passes by

The teachers at Day Care continue to write lovely positive things about her too, they've been saying Sophie is now interacting with the other children really well, climbing stairs, dancing and singing along to music and clapping her hands all the time. When Ingrid went to pick her up on Friday afternoon, Sophie was looking so happy playing with everybody outside, so Ingrid left her there for a another 40 minutes and popped off to grab a quick coffee…Sophie does love her outside playtime.

Another lovely Day Care report for little Sophie

Sophie's first steps

11:15am Sunday 6th May, Sophie let go of her new 'baby-walker' and took a half a dozen steps towards us with her arms stretched out and a grin on her face bigger than Texas.
-
We were in the lounge watching her play with her new birthday present Sunday morning, when all over a sudden she cracked a huge smile and suddenly let go of her walker and stated walking toward us!...people say that witnessing your child's first steps is one of the most memorable things in life and Ingrid & I felt pretty damn lucky and proud to see it happen together.
-

Check me out!

Sophie had a blast over the weekend having all the family up for her birthday. Obviously, she was showered with cool gifts and cuddles all weekend too. Her annoying cold has finally cleared up and the constant stream of green snot that has poured out from her nose has finally stopped...it's amazing that such a small creature can produce such vast volumes of bloody boogers!

Sophie's new 'baby-walker' - she mastered it after 1 night and walked by herself the following day...

Happy Birthday Sophie!

To my beautiful daughter, as you have probably noticed, I don't get around to updating this site very often as the days fly by and I am usually tucked up in bed fast asleep by 9.30pm! So you will know by know that I usually update the important things that happen. So of course this is the most important date of the whole year and I can't believe that you are now 1 year old.

Your daddy and I were together for 10 years before you came along (just making sure we really did love each other!) and I have no idea what it was we did for that 10 years as you are our whole life, you are what we talk about and laugh about at the end of the day, you are a little piece of each of us and we find that utterly amazing and wonderful.

You my dear are totally awesome and just an absolute joy to have around. Your personality is huge as is your determination! I can't wait to see you grow and develop over the years and I just want you to know that I love you very, very much.
All my love
Mummy xxx
