Weekend at Nana's

Quick update – Sophie is off to bed shortly and the computer is in her room.

Sophie enjoying herself on the trampoline!

Will update you tomorrow in detail. Sophie and Daddy headed down to Nana’s place in New Plymouth today to spend the weekend with the family and to give Ingrid a nice relaxing weekend at home.

Sophie loved the plane ride down and is having a ball so far!

The bot.

There’s been a nasty bug going around for a few weeks now. Both Ingrid and I have had it (along with half of Auckland) and we thought Sophie has somehow managed to avoid it…wrong.

She picked it up Friday and has spent the entire weekend sleeping, eating very little, coughing and not her happy usual little self. Ingrid is going to keep her home from Kids Klub tomorrow and hopefully she is right to go back on Tuesday.

Down at the park feeding the ducks yesterday

Sophie full of flu and not happy at all
-
Ingrid’ mum (Granzt) is arriving shortly and staying for a couple of days, so at least she’ll get to see a bit of Sophie tomorrow now.
Even though Sophie has been crook, we still managed a couple of trips to the park to at least give her some sanity this weekend.
-
New coat of stain on the house!
-
We’ve been talking about getting the entire house treated and re-stained for a while now, and we had a couple of specialists start work on the place a couple of weeks ago. Yesterday they finished it off! Ingrid and I are really happy with the result so we might look at putting it on the market some time soon.

I did lots today!

It’s been a while since that big yellow thing in the sky has come out, so when it finally did come out today…we all shot out to do lots of things!
-
Daddy had a big sleep in this morning and when he finally woke up, mummy made him go up to the shops to get the paper. As soon as I saw daddy put his shoes on, I grabbed mine and ran over to him pleading for him to take me too…It worked, and I got to have my first BIG walk up to the shops! I held onto his daddy’s hand, and we walked all the way up to the shop, and all the way back together…I was pretty knackered afterwards, but I got to pat a few doggies on the way which was pretty cool.
Wicked...push me higher daddy!

Yum, this stuff ain't bad at all!
-
We had some friends pop around afterwards and I got to see my buddy Cuba, who I haven’t seen for ages. Cuba is the same age as me, so we played with my toys and read some books together.
-
After my sleep we went out to get some lunch and then went to a place where mummy and dadday could have a coffee. We went out the back in the playground part and I got eat sand in the sandpit!…mummy and daddy kept on telling me off, but I didn’t care, ‘caus the sand tasted yummy!
-
After eating lots of sand we popped over to see Lee (who’s over here from Australia) at Aunty Katie’s house, and then headed off to the PARK! Wahooooo!
-
Daddy dropped mummy off at home first so she could go and do some shopping (because that’s what mummies do daddy kept telling me) and the two of us played on the swings for ages!...When mummy isn’t around at the park, daddy pushes me really high on the swings and sometimes I almost do a whole loop on it…but I’m not supposed to tell mummy ‘caus daddy said she will growl at him and say ‘no!”...I better not tell her then, casue I don’t like it when they say ‘no’ to me…
Forgot to say, we went to the Mall and I got to have a ride in this wicked car too!

Yip, we're slackers...

It’s official, both Ingrid and I are slack at updating the blog (Ingrid more so obviously…)

Sophie is in fine form these days; she’s growing bigger as each day passes and learning new things at a staggering rate (but I suppose all parents say that huh?)

Sophie the future Rockstar, sporting her first Rock'nRoll T-shirt

The weather has been typical in Auckland these past couple of weeks, so we haven’t had a really good chance to spend much time outside with her during the weekends…something that Sophie absolutely loves!. We’ve managed a few fleeting visits to the park which keeps her entertained for hours, but apart from that we’ve had to try and find lots of indoor things to do, like making tents out of sheets inside the house or letting Sophie run riot at various shopping malls in Auckland! One cool thing she is doing though at the mall is holding our hand when we walk around...little cutie.

Fun at the park...trying to swing higher than mummy!

Wrapped up nice and warm on a freezing day outside

It’s crazy, just how many things Sophie is now recognizing and can point out when you ask her where things are…stuff like, trees, the clock, flowers, pens, Hi-5 (of course!) Toys, Books pretty much most things around the house she identifies these days, and if we ask for a specific book, she will rummage around in her toy box until she finds it and then comes running to us with a big smile on her face saying ‘dear!’ and pointing to the book…

Fun at the Mall

Dancing with myself

If I had the chance
I’d ask the world to dance
I’m dancing with myself
Wa ha ha ha
