"I can count to 10...watch me!"

Occasionally the camera is just in reach to catch something special...check out 'this video' to watch Sophie count to TEN for the first time ever...all by herself!

Don't fall asleep in the car Sophie!

I needed a breather this week after a hectic couple of months at work – so I’ve taken the week off work…its short week with Anzac day on Friday so timing is great.
I kept Sophie home from Kids Klub yesterday and I’ll do the same tomorrow –a couple of days to myself chillin’ and a couple of Sophie and Daddy days together.
-

"Boo!"
-
I had great intentions yesterday of taking her out on a ferry ride – (she’s been going on about boats for the past few days) but the Auckland weather turned to custard and pretty much blew out that idea. We did however; manage to spend the morning painting up a storm at home and then we went hanging out in playgrounds and parks during the afternoon. She didn’t sleep long during the day, so by mid afternoon the poor thing was knackered and then crashed out in the car on the way back from the park. You really do learn to appreciate their routines way more when you notice how much it messes with their little minds when they in fact, change their routine…’caus when she woke up in the car – she freaked and then threw a massive tantrum!
-
Sophie has started to throw a few 'tanties' now and then…but yesterday definitely took the cake – didn’t matter what either one of us did…she simply didn’t want a bar from the both of us! – It took a good 90 minutes of completely ignoring her before she came round again. Let’s hope tomorrow she sleeps better during the day or else we’ll both be throwing 'tanties' in the afternoon if she repeats that again!
-
The budding little artist...you should have seen my face too...she decided to use that as the canvas at one stage...
-
So, apart from the odd tantrum (and I really do mean do mean hardly ever), Sophie has been a little darling…she can count all the way to 5 and she’s started learning the alphabet and can get through good chucks of it all by herself now too.
-
Sophie turns 2 next Saturday – we’ve got both families coming up to see her which should be good, but Ingrid and I have no idea what we’re going to do or even buy her at this stage…(some anti tantrum pills may not be a bad idea though…)

"Here I am just hanging out at Subway"

"Hey lady behind the counter...check this out!"
-
"Who needs spoons when you can suck it straight out!"
-
" What do you mean I've still got food on my face?"
-
"Now we're talking...an afternoon shot of Fluffy!"
-
"Mmm I wonder what I'll do tomorrow..."
-
"Cheers Mummy!"
-
A quick play (and pose for the camera) in the kids sandpit.
-
"I don't know what this does...but it's keeping me very quiet..."
-
"Why did you give me this to hold onto for daddy?"
-
"Ohh I see...I can give it lots of cuddles while we're driving around..."
- "I wish Charlie the cat was this nice...just look what he's missing out on..."

Coffee-group Kids: 2nd Birthday!

Well, it’s been a few drinks between posts on the blog…
-
A few weeks ago we put the house on the market and it officially went up for auction last weekend. I would love to say we sold it and got an amazing price, but you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to know how the current housing market is going. Without going into boring details (as this is a blog about Sophie) – we didn’t sell our place, but have found a perfect house that ticks all the boxes…and then some!…we do however have a couple of days to pull out before it becomes 100% unconditional…and chances are we will pull the pin as we haven’t seen 1 offer on our place…bugger.

-
The coffee group kids at age 2!...my god they grow quickly! (I still think Sophie is the cutest out of the lot too)
-
On a brighter note, yesterday the original coffee group parents (the ante-natal group people) we met over two years ago – put on a combined 2nd year birthday for all the little ones – most of the kids were born within a 6 weeks period and yesterday was the only day we could all agree on. It was kind of bizarre meeting up with everyone again… but pretty cool seeing all the kids again and realising how much they have all grown up! Sophie was in great form all morning at the party and had a blast.

Funtimes at the birthday party
-
Yip, Sophie sure loves swings!
-
Day-light savings ended last night and I was a little anxious, as it was my turn for morning duties this morning, but good little Sophie obviously realised what was going on and slept in (to what would have been ) 8am this morning…you little beauty Sophie!. So we didn’t have to change her routine today at all, and we ended up putting her to bed around her normal sleep time tonight…phew.
-
Sophie will be turning 2 years old on May 4th which also means she will be moving out of her normal Kids Klub (under 2’s ) group and mixing it with all the under 4 year olds. The teachers there have been pretty onto it though, and have been slowly introducing her into the older group from the start of the year. I do worry a little that that the older kids may pick on her and get a bit rough at times…but then again, Sophie does know how to stick up for herself pretty well and I’m sure interacting with older kids can only help her development.

Lining up for birthday cake
-
"Ohh come on everyone I'm hungry...stop taking bloody photos' everyone!"
-
"Alrighty, the other kids are hocking into thiers...bring it on!"
-
"If I'm real quick, I reckon I can take his cake and nobody will notice.."
-
"I want what she got for a present..."
